The Introductory Sommelier® certification is otherwise known as the Sommelier 1 certification, which is the first of four certification levels given by the Court of Master Sommeliers®.
In order to sit the Introductory Sommelier® Exam, you’ll have to register for a course and exam combination that spans a two-day period from 8:00 AM to approximately 6:00 PM. The course work is in lecture-format along with a tasting survey that provides an introduction to the Court of Master Sommelier Deductive Tasting Method®, and at the end of the second day, you will be given a multiple-choice exam of 70 questions.
In order to pass the exam, you must achieve a minimum score of 60%.
